I've been leading a Bible study on the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan (reference below). I think I expected the book to be much lighter than it has been. The first chapter basically slaps you in the face with the AWESOMENESS of God. Our God has created an unbelievable place and we live in unbelievable bodies that can do unbelievable things!! Yet in all of that awesomeness, God sees me. God sees you. In Luke 12:7, it says: "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered." Um, what? Well, that's a little weird, right? Does God sit up and count my hairs? "one, two, three..." - that's a bit tedious.
I chuckle because our only point of reference is our own ability, or lack thereof. We can't believe that God just knows the amount of hair on our head. He.Just.Knows. He doesn't even have to count them! I do it all the time, but man...why do we limit God to only what we can do?
I've got a question for you:
Would you want to serve a God who has the same limitations as you?
I don't know about you, but I love imagining God as this huge He-Man, Master of the Universe, with ginormous muscles who has the strength to do ANYTHING. Like The Hulk, our God can pound his fist on the ground and the ENTIRE EARTH will break in half. Think about the characters in the comic book movies. He can do all of that! He commands the WEATHER! He can hold back armies with his pinky finger! There is absolutely NOTHING that our GOD cannot do!!!
Do you know that? No, do you REALLY know that? Do you REALLY get it?
Do you let God do all of the things?
Do you go to the God who knows everything to get answers?
Do you go to the God who is all powerful to fight your battles for you?
Do you allow the God who counts the hairs on your head to find worth?
